The city of Oakland held its first ever city sanctioned Santa Con event at Oakland's Jack London Square on Saturday, December 15.
Unlike its counterpart event in San Francisco, the Oakland event took on a more family friendly vibe with locals of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and income levels, dancing the afternoon away.
Although the organizer stated that this was the first Oakland Santa Con, Oakland has had numerous Santa Con events over the years, with none requiring police response or fielding complaints from local businesses.
As a matter of fact, there was only one Oakland police officer assigned to the event, and she looked pretty bored the entire time.
We look forward to see what the organizers have planned for 2019.
